It is so easy to travel inside our country and it is so small that you
could have breakfast on the Pacific Ocean and dinner on the Caribbean
Sea -- with plenty of time to spare in between to grab lunch in the
Central Valley.
All our beaches are so beautiful that it is impossible to determine
which ones are the best. We recommend that you visit at least a few.
The country is divided into distinct geographical regions, according to
the way the road network and the distances are laid out. You can plan
your different trips and cover whole regions in the North, Central or
South Pacific regions, the Northern plains, the Central Valley or the
North and South Caribbean regions.
The Pacific coast boasts some of Costa Rica's most famous beaches for
surfing, such as Esterillos, Jacó, Hermosa and Boca Barranca. In
the Golfito region, near the Ballena Marine National Park, surfing fans
can find the famous "big left wave."
The Caribbean region of Costa Rica is noted for its variety of aquatic
ecosystems and its beautiful white or black sand beaches, providing an
ideal setting for activities such as sport-fishing,
snorkeling, and sun bathing.
